As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text uses a 12-point Arial font and is single-spaced.
  • The submission includes a complete cover page with all required information.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission includes an AI Use Declaration.
  • You consent to publishing your submission under a Creative Commons license.

COVER PAGE REQUIREMENTS

Please include a cover page with the following information:

  • Title (of your submission)
  • Full Name
  • Student ID
  • ZTC Course and Semester (The course/s you are writing about that did not require you to pay for textbooks; e.g. ENGL 1100 Fall 2023)
  • Instructor Name (The name of the instructor that taught the ZTC course)
  • AI Declaration Statement

 

FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

Submission content must be

  • between 300-500 words (not including the cover page)
  • 12-pt Arial font, single-spaced
  • in a Word (.DOCX) or OpenOffice (.ODT) document

 

AI USE DECLARATION

All submissions must include an AI Use Declaration. Select the label that best describes your AI use and provide a brief explanation (1-2 sentences) in your cover letter.

  • Craftsperson - No AI used; created independently
  • Handyperson - AI used occasionally (spell-check, grammar suggestions)
  • Cyborg - Collaborative work with AI (significant back-and-forth)
  • Curator - AI generated content that I refined and organized
  • Generator - Mostly AI-generated with minimal editing

Prize Eligibility: Only Craftsperson, Handyperson, or Cyborg submissions are eligible for prizes. Curator and Generator submissions may be published but are not eligible for prizes.

  • You must have taken at least one KPU Zero Textbook Cost course
