Abstract

In this article, film scholar Andy Hageman interviews the film writer Jay Glennie regarding his new book, The Making of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. This book marks the beginning of a ten-book deal that has Glennie writing the definitive and official making-of book for each of Tarantino's 10 major films. The interview features Glennie sharing his entry into and trajectory within producing high production value film books that synthesize comprehensive interviews. Hageman and Glennie discuss surprises that came up during interviews for this book on Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood as well as Glennie's perspective on how making-of books contribute to film history and what it's like to be taken into the Tarantino inner circle so as to get productive and unique interviews from cast and crew and the director himself.
