These contradictions have to do with the protection of the authors' interest and have become apparent with the rise of open access publishing as an alternative to the traditional commercial model of selling journal subscriptions. Authors may well be better served, as may the public which supports research, by open access journals because of its wider readership and early indications of greater scholarly impact. This paper reviews the specifics of publishers' contracts with editors and authors, as well as the larger spirit of copyright law in seeking to help scholars to better understand the consequences the choices they make between commercial and open access publishing models for the future of academic knowledge.

THIS IS A DEMONSTRATION ARTICLE
Karen Meijer-Kline, John Willinsky Copyright (c) 2017 Karen Meijer-Kline, John Willinsky https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/1 Sun, 22 Oct 2017 23:54:24 -0700 Scholarly Associations and the Economic Viability of Open Access Publishing https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/2
The information landscapes within which scholars work is undergoing a seismic shift. The computer monitor that rises out of the photocopy stacks, piles of journals, clippings and correspondence, now offers a new, rich vein of information that seems destined to eventually overwhelm the traditional trappings of desktops, filing cabinets, and bookshelves. After little more than a decade of Internet publishing, two?thirds of academic journals provide online access, while more than 1,000 peer?reviewed journals are published solely in digital form (Tenopir and King, 2001). Faculty and students are increasingly writing with their browsers open to online research sources.

THIS IS A DEMONSTRATION ARTICLE
Karen Meijer-Kline, John Willinsky Copyright (c) 2017 Karen Meijer-Kline, John Willinsky https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/2 Mon, 23 Oct 2017 00:01:28 -0700 OER Strategic Planning for Libraries https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/4
Copy, adapt or adopt these strategic points for libraries.
Caroline Daniels, Karen Meijer-Kline Copyright (c) 2017 Caroline Daniels https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/4 Mon, 23 Oct 2017 18:27:48 -0700 Library workshop A-Z https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/9
this was an awesome program that we should bring back.
Caroline Daniels Copyright (c) 2017 Caroline Daniels https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/9 Wed, 25 Oct 2017 18:31:50 -0700 new article for 2018 https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/229
It's great
Caroline Daniels Copyright (c) 2019 Caroline Daniels https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.kpu.ca/index.php/demo/article/view/229 Mon, 04 Mar 2019 17:28:44 -0800
